MATT Colours

With the MATT satin product finish - the polished surface you would expect on a gloss surface is treated in such a way that the paint reflects a non-reflective surface-image and the colour clearly stands out as featured

More about DUCO surface-finishes

Duco is a truly modern surface-finish implemented and used by the best of kitchen manufacturers – and not many offer this as an option for their clients.

Its also commonly known as a Lacquer spray on polished preparation! DUCO – a dual component multi-layer spray varnish. Duco is sprayed onto MDF (Medium Density Fibre) or SupaWood after the MDF have been CNC-routed or framed with smoothed edges. These MDF or supawood is with a standard thickness of 22mm with the exception of 16mm thick

Duco paint finish will make your kitchen a standout and will help increase the value of your home should you decide to sell it in the future. It also protects your kitchen from water seepage and stain from all the cooking, making it last longer. But the best and probably the most important part is that the high-gloss finish makes it the easiest to clean as compared to other paint finishes.

On the other hand, to achieve the Duco finish takes up a lot of time, money, and effort. Since high-gloss finish highlights all the imperfections of the surface, to resolve it, the whole system of painting tends to be repetitive depending on the level of imperfection evident on the surface or the aesthetics level you want to achieve. Repetitive means that you can go over the procedure again (primer-putty-primer-topcoat) without having to get rid of the new paint, considering that you’re going to use the same products. You should also know that the Duco finish is not made for exterior surfaces as it most likely peels and flakes when directly exposed to sunlight.

Advantages

  • Massive range of colours, stains & clear(transparent) varnish
  • Its a modern contemporary product
  • Smooth, easy to clean surface
  • No exposed seams, i.e. the paint seals off the MDF core entirely
  • Its relatively water-resistant

Maintenance is the most simplest aspect of duco:

  • Treat like a car – the varnish is almost identical
  • If the door is starting to catch or wear make sure it is adjusted ASAP to prevent long term damage

Disadvantages

  • Can be susceptible to chipping & scratching if caution is not kept in mind
  • To achieve the Duco finish, you have to have a certain technical skill. This is the reason why it is suggested as a DIFM (do-it-for-me) project.
  • Spray finishing is relatively expensive. It is used in many up market kitchens both locally & abroad. High Gloss finishes would be more expensive than matt.
  • If there is damage it can be repaired quite easily

Duco finish is that long-wearing, attractive, high-gloss finish that is mostly seen on interior wooden surfaces. Aside from its appeal, it is the go-to paint finish for most kitchen furniture as it provides an excellent water barrier and gives the surface the flexibility to move without cracking or flaking. Additionally, since kitchens are naturally busy with all the cooking and washing being done in there, giving your area the Duco finish allows extra protection from stain and heat.

With proper ventilation in place, and after the routing & edging is done – sanding with polishing is done to get the smooth surface-touch is achieved.

We are supplied with & use the best automotive lacquer-paint coloured with your choice of colour or possible matched to an existing colour your require. Even though it is called an Automotive Lacquer, this paint has nothing in common with automotive/car paint. The name of the product was coined to describe a similar finish in automobiles.

Starting with a lacquer-primer surfacer all the way to the final lacquer-topcoat following a labour-intensive process to achieve the best of results. Spraying may take more than 2 rounds & does get quite repetitive
